In 1999 European Environment Agency in agreement with the European Commission decided to update the Corine Land Cover 1990. Poland took part in the project – Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection was responsible for the project and the contractor was the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography. Work was funded by the EU and Poland. The results are free to use for non-commercial purposes.
Corine Land Cover 2006 is the continuation of the CLC1990 and CLC2000 projects held by the European Environment Agency. It is focused on documenting the changes in the land cover as well as collecting and updating the comparable data across Europe.
